Q. Where are you Registered?

A. The East Africa Cooperative Development Group INC is registered as a North Carolina non-profit with 501(c)(3) status.

 

Q. Are my Donations Tax DEDUCTIBLE

A. All donations are tax-deductible under IRS section 501(c)(3). We can provide documentation of tax exemption for any donations. 

 

Q. Do you make grants or Loans to Charity groups?

A. The majority of our funds are allocated as loans to worker owned cooperatives in the East Africa region. We work with groups that are structured as for-profit groups that have the shares held by the workers in the industry. We require repayment of loans to ensure that the groups are working towards being financially solvent and viable after the funding cycles have ended. 

 

Q. What Portion of your funds are dispensed as Grants or Loans?

A. Our staff work on a volunteer basis. Our organization strives to disperse over 90% of our funds to our partner worker groups. 

 

Q. How can prospective groups get in touch with you?

A. Groups that are in the East Africa region and maintain a significant share of worker ownership can apply to be a partner organization through contacting the grants administration our our contact page. 

 

Q. Do you disclose your finances?

A. Yes - We publish quarterly reports of our organizational finances, including the IRS 990 disclosures.
